Larkfield Juniors F.C. & Range Rovers F.C. served up a footballing dish of passion in this nail biting under 11's league match. Both sets of supporters were screaming as the teams battled at a furious pace in a game of attack and counter attack that saw both sides take the lead.
Range Rovers took the lead halfway through the First half when an excellent through ball created hesitation between Larkfield's keeper and Central defenders. The ensuing efforts of Larkfield to clear their penalty box failed with Range Rovers rifling in their first from the edge of Larkfield area.
Larkfield's reply was five minutes in coming with some excellent play out of the right of defence leading to a through ball that was slotted wide of the Rovers keeper for the equaliser. Five minutes later saw an almost identical through ball produce the same cool finishing giving Larkfield the lead, which they retained until half time.
Rovers kicked off the second half, which saw Rovers attack with renewed vigour and pressurised Larkfield's defence for long spells. Larkfield soaked up this pressure and tried to catch Rovers on the break but found their keeper on top of his game and resolute. It was just as Larkfield thought they had weathered the storm when Rovers were awarded a corner . The corner was cleared as far as the edge of the box but a fine curling shot beat keeper and defender on the line to `go in' off the left-hand upright to equalise for Rovers.
The game was set for a frantic finale' with the teams attacking and counter-attacking relentlessly. During one Rovers attack the ball was pushed goalward past the out-rushing Larkfield keeper but was magnificently cleared off the line by the in rushing right back.
With just a few minutes remaining Larkfield mounted another attack, which saw a crossed ball turned past the Rovers keeper and `in off' the foot of his left up-right.
With continued attacks by both teams being thwarted by resolute defences, Larkfield ran out winners.
